The End of Freedoms

Man on the Street

The man here watches the tanks roll by in Prague. His face seems to be the picture of hopelessness.

The man pictured here experienced the Prague Spring first hand. His very face seems to ask the question "why?" as he stares as the tanks rolling through the streets. His hopelessness is palpable from the expression on his face. His shoulders seemed slumped as he stares at the destruction around him.

This man represents much of the emotion surrounding the invasion. Many people didn't think that the Soviet Union would suddenly invade and were surprised to find that tanks entered their city. It's almost as if they didn't know what to do, but from here, the violence would get worse.
